Everton fans will be furious to see this footage that shows they could have had a penalty yesterday.

The Toffees managed to pick up one of their biggest wins of the season on Sunday as Richarlison’s strike was enough to pick up all three points at home to a team fighting for a spot in the Champions League in Chelsea.

Should Everton have been awarded a penalty?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Frank Lampard’s men knew a positive result was needed on Sunday afternoon after they saw Burnley pick up another win the day before, while Leeds lost 4-0 to Manchester City, leaving them very much in danger of going back into the Championship.

While Everton fans will still be delighted after seeing their side win yesterday, this footage (7:46; image below) of Demarai Gray seemingly being pushed in the back while inside the penalty box will anger them as the game could’ve ended a lot more comfortably.

TIF Thoughts on this missed incident…

Which of these Serie A stars did the Toffees miss out on?

Despite this being an off-the-ball incident and a lot of bodies being in the way of the referee, this is something that the VAR should have surely taken a look at, as if Gray doesn’t get pushed over by Thiago Silva, he likely gets a touch goalwards on Richarlison’s low cross and could have potentially doubled the Toffees’ lead.

This isn’t the first time that VAR decisions have gone against Everton, as they were denied a penalty against Manchester City when Rodri appeared to control the ball with his hand, and just the other week, Anthony Gordon was bundled over by Joel Matip at Anfield, only for nothing to come of it.
