Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Jordan Pickford has been crucial for Everton in recent times – but they may have some big offers for him in the summer.

There have been reports that Pickford has been linked with a move away from Everton in the summer, despite his contract not expiring until 2024. Fellow Premier League clubs Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the English ‘keeper.

Pickford has been part of a struggling Everton side this season, but some recent important results against the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United mean that if they win their next game, they can guarantee Premier League safety if other results also go their way.

With the reports that Pickford could leave Goodison Park in the summer, O’Rourke told GiveMeSport that if the Toffees receive a big offer for him, he may be on his way out.

He said: “Jordan Pickford, the main thing for Everton right now is that he’s performing. He’s been exceptional for them in the last couple of games. He’s made some crucial saves ensuring they picked up wins against Chelsea and Leicester.

“They would love to keep Jordan Pickford at the club, but if they did receive a big-money offer, they might find it too hard to turn down.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

Everton have been poor defensively this season. Only three sides outside the bottom three have conceded more than their 59 goals, Pickford concedes the fifth-most goals on average per game (1.6) and has the 16th-most clean sheets out of all the goalkeepers in the league (7), as per SofaScore.

Despite those stats, Pickford has been the saviour for his side in recent weeks – he was awarded an 8.1 rating against Chelsea and an 8 rating against Leicester City, where he made some impressive saves to earn his side the victories.

However, for the majority of the season, Pickford has struggled for form, so if a big offer comes in for him, the Toffees may well decide to cash in.
