Everton are embroiled in a real dog fight to stay in the Premier League, scrapping it out with Burnley and Leeds, with one of the three teams set to go down next week when the season draws to a close.
The Toffees have been boosted in recent weeks as Fabian Delph has returned to the side and helped them to three wins and two draws from five of their last six games, the only game he didn’t feature in they lost.
Will Everton stay up?
He has clearly been influential in the middle of the park, helping Frank Lampard pick up some vital points and moving Everton out of the bottom three as things stand.
Ben Dinnery has been looking at the injury on his injury round-up show, stating the following: “Big talking point, Fabian Delph, who’s been great since his introduction to the side after recovering from a long term injury, but he has suffered from another setback that’s muscle [related] so probably going to be matchweek 38 [when he’s fit] at best.”
TIF thoughts on Fabian Delph’s injury…
Looking at the record with Delph in the side in recent weeks, that is a huge blow to the Toffees and Lampard who have three huge games remaining to try and save their Premier League status for next year. He hasn’t dropped below a rating of 7 in his last two games, won six duels last time out and made a whopping 10 long balls (SofaScore).
Delph only has 11 games played in blue for Everton this season, proving to be a real worry for Lampard who needs players he can rely on, the injury record from this campaign is a real cause for concern.
