Gavin Buckland has claimed on the All Together Now podcast that Yerry Mina is set to leave Everton this summer.

Everton managed to end what was a very poor season with a 5-1 defeat, although it was quite irrelevant given they had secured their Premier League status just a few days earlier with a 3-2 win against Crystal Palace and the focus will now turn to a big transfer window.

Should Everton sell Mina?

It has been reported that with certain players leaving the club on free transfers, Everton will be able to instantly shave off £25m from their wage bill, which should help them operate better in the summer transfer market.

Despite this, they will still likely have to sell some of their players – and Buckland believes one of those sales will involve Mina.

He said: “I think we may have seen a slightly different campaign if Mina had been fit for most of the games, because defensively we’re a different team – and also the fact that it now looks as though he’s probably going to go during the summer – I think that’s a real shame.”

Which of these Serie A stars did the Toffees miss out on?

It’s no secret that Everton are a much better team with Mina in their starting lineup, with the defender having recorded the best points-per-game average when in the side out of any Everton player to have started a league match this season. However, his injury record can’t be ignored.

The Colombian, who is valued at £18 million (as per Transfermarkt), was only been able to start 34 games in the Premier League this season, which isn’t good enough for a top-flight international defender – and when someone of James Tarkowski’s experience is available on a free transfer, it could be as simple as bringing him in and letting Mina explore new avenues.
