Pundit Kevin Campbell has claimed that Fabian Delph is not available enough to have a future at Goodison Park for Everton.

Fabian Delph has had a frustrating season for Everton, he has made just nine appearances in the Premier League for the Toffees, with three of those coming this calendar year after he was injured for four months since December.

Delph signed for the Toffees in 2019 from Manchester City but has been riddled with injuries since, meaning he has featured just 39 times across three seasons. Delph’s contract is set to expire in the summer, so Lampard will have to decide whether he wants to keep him at the club and offer him a new deal.

Do you think Delph should be offered a new deal?

After Delph has had another season disrupted with injuries, Kevin Campbell claimed to Goodison News that Delph may not have a future at the club due to lack of availability.

“Yeah I just think the likes of Delph playing [regularly] would have been a good experienced player, lefty as well. Could do a real good job. But he’s just not available enough, and the best ability is availability, and unfortunately he just hasn’t been able to keep himself fit.

“So I think that boat has sailed. Frank Lampard needs players who are going to be fit and ready to go.  Fabian Delph unfortunately isn’t one of them,” Campbell said.

TIF Thoughts on Kevin Campbell’s comments…

Fabian Delph has been either injured, or not fit enough to make the starting XI for the majority of this season, and this is shown as in the last nine times he has been named in the squad, he has been an unused substitute in four of them.

If Delph is not being deemed as fit enough to play this season, things could only get worse next campaign, so it could seem like a risk to offer him a new contract if he isn’t going to be available for selection.
