A number of Everton fans will likely be upset with Roy Keane today after he called Jordan Pickford  ‘disgraceful’ for his antics in the club’s recent win.

With the threat of relegation looming large, the Toffees needed a big result against Chelsea on the weekend and that’s just what they got. Indeed, they snuck past the Blues in a narrow 1-0 win that was owed in part to a fantastic display for their goalkeeper.

Pickford, in particular, made one stunning save that will be remembered for many years to come. But Roy Keane still found reason to criticise his performance.

“Pickford the goalkeeper, made some great saves, but his time wasting was disgraceful. But I totally get it.”

TIF thoughts on Jordan Pickford and Everton…

Everton haven’t had the best of seasons – as evidenced by their lowly league position – and it hasn’t been smooth sailing for Pickford either.

Earlier this month even, he was slammed on Sky Sports (via Goodison News) by both David Ginola and Graeme Souness for failing to save Aaron Cresswell’s goal for West Ham United against the Toffees who dubbed his goalkeeping as ‘weird’.

At the very least, Keane does afford him some leniency by adding ‘I totally get it’. But even so, he scathing comments towards Pickford seem a little harsh.

After all, he has been widely dubbed as the Everton’s hero of the day and his superb display could well be the difference between Premier League and Championship football next term.
