Mark Douglas has been discussing Eddie Howe’s latest comments ahead of Newcastle United’s summer transfer window.

Newcastle United all but secured their Premier League status a few weeks ago after four wins in a row but have seen their momentum halted in recent weeks with back to back league defeats against Liverpool and Manchester City.

Will Newcastle qualify for Europe next season?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

However, their future in the top flight can be mathematically confirmed this midweek if Leeds United fail to beat Chelsea, and if that happens PIF and Eddie Howe will surely start planning for what will likely be a very exciting and busy summer on Tyneside.

Douglas has picked out some of Howe’s comments about having to potentially move on some much loved Newcastle players this summer as he looks to mould this squad into his own, showing the manager certainly has a ruthless side, Douglas tweeted out:

‘Interesting to hear Eddie Howe saying some ‘much loved’ #nufc players might be moving on. Selling well is crucial to club this summer: and taking bold decisions to upgrade the squad is exactly what is needed. For too many years it’s been ‘renew for a year, kick the can down road’

An easy one to start with, where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

Just a quick glance at Newcastle United’s entire squad it’s clear to see that an overhaul is required if they are to meet the ambitions of their owners who are aiming to win the Premier League within 10 years, as they still have eight players on their books who helped them win the Championship title in 2017.

Howe certainly isn’t afraid to make difficult and potentially unpopular decisions as he dropped club captain Jamaal Lascelles when Dan Burn was signed in January with the skipper only starting three games since Burn was brought to the club and he could well be one of the love players that makes way this summer if he is in search of first-team football.
