BBC pundit Ashley Williams has been speaking on Match of the Day about the huge miss Everton’s Demarai Gray had last night.

Everton’s recent positive run of very good results came to a halt last night at the home of already relegated Watford who picked up their first home league clean sheet of the entire season with both sides playing out a 0-0 draw.

Will Everton stay up?

No!

The Toffees managed to register five shots on target but were met by an in-form Ben Foster, although they could have opened the scoring had Gray managed to sort his feet out and get a decent shot away while inside the box.

Williams has admitted that Gray won’t be happy with himself following the big miss:

“Everton caused another great opportunity here with [Alex] Iwobi doing a one-two with Gray who’ll be kicking himself tonight because it’s good play right up until that point, he takes a decent touch and he’s just got to find that bottom corner but he just missed.”

Which of these Serie A stars did the Toffees miss out on?

In a game of so few big chances and where Everton are in the league, just two points above the bottom three, Gray has to be scoring these sorts of chances as three points last night would have put them five points clear of the drop zone with Leeds United having just two games left to play.

It’s been a pretty horrific season for Everton this time around the only player they paid a transfer fee for last summer, Gray, has been a rare bright spark proving himself to be a bit of a bargain at £1.80 million managing to feature in 36 games registering six goals and four assists.
