Crystal Palace: Journalist highlights halt in transfer proceedings

|

Journalist Michael Bridge has claimed that despite Crystal Palace showing interest in Aaron Wan-Bissaka, there are still clubs abroad keeping tabs on him.

Wan-Bissaka has been linked with a move away from Manchester United in the summer, and Palace are reportedly interested in bringing him back to Selhurst Park, just three seasons after selling him to the Red Devils.

The English right-back has been out of favour for United this season, featuring just 20 times out of their 37 games in the Premier League.

With the reports that a move could be on the cards for a return to Selhurst Park for Wan-Bissaka, Bridge spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that there are clubs abroad interested in him.

He said: “I thought when I first saw him at Palace that he was going to be England’s right-back for the next 10 years, but it just didn’t turn out that way. He’s very limited in certain areas. So, I don’t know whether it would be a loan for him.

“I’ve heard a few murmurs that there’s clubs abroad that would like to take him for a year, so it’s a bit of a wait and see with that one,” Bridge said.

TIF Thoughts on Bridge’s comments…

Although Wan-Bissaka has been out of favour this season, he has still been somewhat impressive in terms of defensive stats for his side. In the Premier League, he makes the most tackles on average (2.5) and also makes the most interceptions per game (1.7), as per SofaScore.

So it may just take a decent run of games for Wan-Bissaka to get back to his best, and where the journey started for him back at Palace may be the perfect place to kickstart his career again.

The full-back is still just 24 years old and Patrick Vieira has a clear youthful approach, giving youngsters such as Marc Guehi and Michael Olise plenty of first-team opportunities, so Wan-Bissaka could fit well into this mould.
