Injury expert and Sky Sports contributor Ben Dinnery has hinted at a possible positional switch for Crystal Palace talisman Wilfried Zaha.
The Eagles host Watford on Saturday and will be hoping to make it back-to-back wins after their 2-1 victory on the south coast at Southampton last weekend.
Zaha came on through the centre and scored a breathtaking winner in the 92nd minute to snatch all three points for the visitors as they moved into 12th and we could see the 29-year-old feature inside more often according to Dinnery.
Compared to Matt Le Tissier by his manager for his “impact” at a club outside the established elite, it appears that Patrick Vieira sees no boundaries when it comes to his star Ivorian.
Will Odsonne Edouard come good for Crystal Palace?
Speaking on his YouTube channel Dinnery said:
(4:37)”Patrick Vieira did mention the possibility of a role switch for Wilfried Zaha, he believes that the player could play centrally in a more striking role although Zaha himself isn’t convinced with that.”
TIF Thoughts on Zaha…
Ever since returning to the club from Manchester United Zaha has been linked with a move away from Selhurst Park and has said before himself that he feels he could have “another shot at the top teams”, however now closing in on his 30s it could be that the £36m-rated forward sees out his career in south London.
A change to the middle could see the 21-capped international take his scoring exploits to new heights.
His goal last week took him past his best goalscoring season in the Premier League as he overtook last season’s tally of 11 and according to Transfermarkt he is most prolific as a centre-forward with 22 goals and 10 assists in 67 appearances as the furthest forward.
It will be interesting to see how this one develops and whether or not Zaha is comfortable coming in from the wing where we have become accustomed to seeing him.
