Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez has revealed his frustration on Instagram after dropping points in the club’s most recent game.
Steven Gerrard and co hosted Crystal Palace over the weekend but had to settle for a point at Villa Park. Ollie Watkins had opened the scoring in the 69th minute but with less than 10 minutes to play, Jeffrey Schlupp levelled the scores.
Taking to Instagram after the match, Martinez’s disappointment was evident for all to see. The Argentine shot-stopper wrote: “Frustrating to drop points right at the end today.”
On a more positive note, though, he did add: “Two games to go. Let’s finish on a high.”

TIF thoughts on Emi Martinez and Aston Villa…
As Martinez makes clear, his club still have two games left to play this term as they aim to finish as high up in the table as possible.
First, they will host Burnley before travelling to Manchester City on the final day of the season. If Aston Villa win both those games, they could end up in the top half of the table. If they lose them, though, they could sink as low as 15th.
No doubt, dropping these points at home against Crystal Palace has left Martinez rather annoyed. Of course, conceding that late goal against the Eagles didn’t just cost his side the win, it also meant he failed to keep a clean sheet.
If Martinez manages to not concede in his final two games of the season, he will have 13 clean sheets this season. As it stands, he has 11, which is four short of the total he managed last term. Perhaps this slight drop-off in performance also explains his frustration.
