Journalist Josh Holland has claimed that Bertrand Traore is not good enough for Aston Villa and his injuries have been an issue.

Traore has been seriously out of favour this season for Aston Villa, he has featured in just seven Premier League games, with just one of those being from the start.

Since the turn of the year, Traore has made just two appearances for Villa and has been an unused substitute the last three times he was named in the squad.

The last campaign was a promising one for the winger, he made 38 appearances in all competitions for Villa, whilst scoring eight goals and registering seven assists.

Despite the impressive form last term for Traore, Holland claimed to GiveMeSport that he is not good enough for Villa, and Gerrard understands that he isn’t a consistent performer.

Do you think Traore's time at Villa is up?

“I don’t think he’s good enough for Villa, personally. I think when he first came in, there was a lot of hype about him because he’s a former Chelsea player, and he did okay in France, but the injuries have been a problem.

“And I think the consistency levels that he brings are not up to scratch, and I think Gerrard knew that coming in. I think Gerrard knows even more now,” Holland said.

TIF Thoughts on Josh Holland’s comments…

Despite Traore being impressive last season, with 14 goal contributions in 36 Premier League appearances, Villa opted to bring in Leon Bailey and Emi Buendia in the summer transfer window, which has meant that the Burkina Faso international has slipped down the pecking order.

Gerrard has already made changes to the squad in the January transfer window, and he may be set to bring in a new haul of players in the summer to strengthen the squad, meaning that Traore may be shown the door at Villa Park.
