Aston Villa’s Matty Cash is absolutely buzzing over the news of the Villans’ permanent signing of Brazilian maestro Philippe Coutinho, taking to Instagram to comment on the post of his teammate after the news broke.

Coutinho has had a turbulent career since leaving Liverpool for a whopping £146 million back in January 2018, struggling to find a permanent spot for himself in the side but for now, it certainly looks like he could have found a home playing under his former Reds teammate Steven Gerrard.

After joining in January on loan from the Blaugrana he has now done enough in the eyes of Villa brass and has secured himself a £17.2 million transfer that will see him take a huge cut in wages to fit their wage structure in which their highest earners bring in £125,000 per week.

TIF Thoughts on the Coutinho deal…

Coutinho has played very well since he joined the midlands team back in January, picking up four goals and three assists in this time and helping Villa climb the table up to 12th as they look to earn themselves a top-ten finish before the end of the season.

He has been a key contributor to the team, averaging 2.3 shots, 1.5 key passes, 1.3 dribbles, and 1.6 long balls per game. He has also managed 82.4% pass accuracy on 32.4 average passes per game (Whoscored). He has also averaged the best shots on target per game throughout the entire squad as well as leading the team in shot-creating actions for players who have played over 10 games in the Premier League this season.

Villa has a bright future with Gerrard at the helm and the permanent signing of Coutinho proves they are able to bring in players that have a big draw and can change the tide of the club in the Premier League moving forward. There is a lot to get excited about for Villa fans.
