Beren Cross has revealed in a live Q&A on Leeds Live that Leeds United youngster Leif Davis could be in line for a new contract.

Despite not having very much cover at left-back last summer Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds decided it would be best for Davis to head out on loan to Championship side Bournemouth, but after just 12 league appearances, it certainly hasn’t gone to plan for the 22-year old.

Will Leeds avoid relegation?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The youngster, who is valued at £720k (as per Transfermarkt), has just one year left on his contract and it may have been expected that he would join Bournemouth permanently, according to Cross, but with his lack of game time, Bournemouth’s promotion and Leeds’ potential relation, it appears that his future could still be at Elland Road.

Cross, who was conducting a Q&A for Leeds Live had this to say about Davis’ future: ‘Davis has one year on his contract remaining, but was expected to stay with Bournemouth after his loan. Injury issues and their promotion may muddy those waters. A sale or even a new contract may be possible given the dearth of left-back options at Elland Road.’

TIF Thoughts on Davis…

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

Leeds did make a left-back signing last summer when they brought in Junior Firpo, but injuries and not being selected has seen his minutes restricted throughout the campaign and it remains to be seen whether or not someone who played for Barcelona last season would be willing to ply his trade in the Championship if Leeds drop down a division.

Being able to extend Davis’ contract would be a big plus for Leeds if the worst was to happen and they were relegated as he has experience in that league, is still young and would not force them into signing and splashing out the cash on a new player.
