Journalist Ben Jacobs has dropped a fresh claim on The Done Deal Show about where Arsenal are in their reported pursuit of Gabriel Jesus.

It has been well reported recently that Arsenal are certainly interested and in discussions to bring Gabriel Jesus to the Emirates Stadium, although their inability to finish in the top four could make it a potentially more difficult sell.

The Brazilian became a very important player under Pep Guardiola during the last few weeks of the season and played in the biggest games domestically and in Europe, but he still appears destined to leave Manchester City with just one year left on his contract.

Jacobs believes that a deal that would see Jesus wind up at the Emirates is picking up pace.

He said: “With Gabriel Jesus, it’s an interesting one. Arsenal are definitely interested in him and this is a potential transfer now that is gathering momentum.

Do you want Arsenal to sign Jesus?

No!

“Arsenal have been in contact with Manchester City and the price tag is going to be quite high, probably in excess of £45m, maybe even a little bit closer to £55m, and Arsenal’s starting point, certainly in very early back-and-forth, is that that’s too high.”

Where did Arsenal sign these players from, let's start with an easy one! Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

The Gunners can’t be too picky about the striker targets they have and their price tags this summer, otherwise, they could well end up kicking off next season with just Eddie Nketiah, who is yet to sign a new deal, as their only senior striker.

Given how much Guardiola trusted Jesus in the big games this season, if Arsenal could attract someone with 141 goal involvements in 236 games for Man City while not having Champions League football on offer, it would be a very impressive piece of business.
