Journalist Charles Watts has confirmed that Arsenal are interested in signing Oleksandr Zinchenko in the transfer market.

Having just missed out on the top four at the end of the season, the Gunners will likely look to improve their squad to go one better next year with some exciting transfers this summer. Indeed, Manchester City man Gabriel Jesus is already high up on their list of targets, and it seems a deal could be close.

While speaking on his own YouTube channel, Watts named another City player in Zinchenko as someone who could also be arriving in north London. However, while confirming the interest is genuine, he suggested that a possible transfer has gone no further than the initial stages just yet.

The journalist explained: “This is a really interesting one, now Arsenal are interested in Oleksandr Zinchenko.

“Certainly from people you speak to up in the north, in and around Manchester City, there has been interest expressed by Arsenal in Zinchenko.

He then added: “Now that’s all it is at the moment – it is interest, it hasn’t gone any further than that.”

TIF Thoughts on Oleksandr Zinchenko and Arsenal…

Zinchenko is clearly a talented player. Indeed, still only 25 years of age, he has already won the Premier League and the League Cup four times each – while he was also named the Ukrainian Footballer of the Year in 2019.

What’s more, he can play at left-back or in central midfield, which could come in handy for Arsenal, who suffered last season when Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey missed games though injury.

With all that in mind, it should come as no great shock to see the Gunners linked with a possible move for Zinchenko. Even so, if Watts’ information is true, this deal has a long way to go yet before it is close to being completed.
