Image for Newcastle United: Eddie Howe handed big injury boost as image emerges

Eddie Howe has been handed a major injury boost ahead of Newcastle United’s final game of the season as a fresh image emerges out of Darsley Park.

Newcatsle will travel to Burnley on Sunday for their last game of the campaign which, a few months ago, may have been viewed as a likely relation decider, and while that is still the case for their opponents, Howe’s side have their eyes fixed on a top-half finish.

Who should start on Sunday?

Something that could become a very possible narrative is that £25 million signing Chris Wood coming back to haunt his former side that had no choice but to sell him in January when the Magpies activate his release clause.

Despite missing the club’s last home game on Monday, Wood has been pictured back in training at Darsley park as club photos have emerged on the official website, and Howe has also now confirmed that the striker will train again today.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

While this image does appear to show Wood training alone and not working with a ball, which are not great signs for his availability on Sunday, it will be a boost for Howe to just have him back out on the grass after only missing a game just a few days ago.

It hasn’t been a great success personally for Wood since arriving at St James’ Park with just two goals in his 16 league appearances, although he did manage to get a winning strike at home against Wolves, but coming up against his former side, he could well give that little bit extra effort to show them what they have been missing.
