Regular BBC commentator Paul Parker has claimed that on-loan Rangers ace Amad Diallo needs a softer loan move following his temporary switch to Ibrox.

Diallo joined Rangers on loan in January but has featured just five times in the league since he arrived at the club. It was a dream start to life in Scotland for the young winger when he scored just five minutes into his debut.

The Ivorian joined Manchester United for £19m last January but has made just nine first-team appearances since, and Ralf Rangnick decided it was the right move for him to go out on loan.

With Diallo failing to stamp his mark in Scotland since his arrival, ex-United defender Parker has claimed that he needs a ‘softer’ loan move next season to help aid his development if his short-term future does not lie at Old Trafford.

He said: “I think they need to get him back in or he needs to go somewhere that’s gonna be a little more softer for him. Cause, if he’s gonna play for United in the Premier League where the refereeing is softer, there’s not any great physicality, he needs to come back and somebody needs to get their arm around him cause I think he is having a tough tough time and they need to get him back.

“He is not going to play for Rangers, they are going to maybe suffer the indignity of not defending the title they won under [Steven] Gerrard.

“So it’s going to be tough on the fans and him coming from Manchester United as well, they are going to be very, very demanding.”

TIF Thoughts on Paul Parker’s comments…

Diallo has failed to have the impact that Manchester United were hoping he would since he has been in Scotland with Rangers. In the Scottish Premiership, he has an average of 0.4 shots on target per game, has created zero big chances and has a successful dribble rate of just 15%, as per SofaScore.

It could be argued his stats suggest he does not suit the Scottish game. So, maybe next season, United will opt to send him on loan to another league, where the style of football will play more to his strengths.

There is no rush for Diallo to come good for United, as he is just 19 years old, so he has plenty of time to go out on loan, get more first-team game time, and ultimately, progress as a player.

However, it doesn’t look like his time at Rangers is going to be deemed a success, barring a vast turnaround in fortunes for the youngster as the Gers continue to battle on two fronts, so we can see why Parker believes a change of scenery next term will do Diallo some good.
