Journalist and podcaster Ryan McGinlay has predicted a huge future for Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley.

The 21-year-old was signed by the Hoops in January for just £1.5m from MK Dons and has slotted seamlessly into life in Glasgow making 17 appearances scoring three goals and creating a further two.

After the football analytics page @ForeseeaBall highlighted the Danish U21 international’s impact in the Scottish Premiership compared to other midfielders, it prompted McGinlay to tweet out his own verdict.

Taking to the social media platform, the Talk Scottish Football podcaster dubbed O’Riley a “superstar in the making”

TIF Thoughts on O’Riley…

Sun journalist Tom Barclay said that there were a number of Premier League sides that were given the chance to sign him in January, but chose against it and Celtic have been left to reap the rewards.

Speaking to Football Insider, former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell hailed the “sensational” recruitment team at Parkhead labelling Riley “a really good spot from Celtic” and only three players at the club have averaged a higher average SofaScore rating than the £405k-rated gem’s 7.47.

The Fulham academy graduate has averaged 2.5 key passes and 1.2 tackles per game in a green and white hooped shirt exercising his ability on both sides of the ball since joining the club and his season heatmap demonstrates the influence he has had all over the pitch as the Celts try to regain the Scottish Premiership.

He earned a first Denmark U21 call-up at the end of March for his form since his switch to Glasgow and if he is able to maintain his level of performance he could well become the “superstar” that McGinlay has proclaimed.
