Journalist Ryan McGinlay has claimed that Carl Starfelt produced a ‘colossal performance’ in the Old Firm derby on Sunday.

Starfelt has been a mainstay in the Celtic side this season at the heart of the defence, featuring 28 times in the league. The Swedish defender joined Celtic in the summer from Rubin Kazan for £4m.

Celtic secured a huge victory on Sunday, which now means that they sit six points clear at the top of the SPFL, with a better goal difference than their rivals, and with just six games to go, are firmly in the driving seat.

After Celtic’s important win this weekend, McGinlay took to Twitter to support Starfelt after he claimed that there has been slander to his name in recent times.

He wrote: “I’m just not having this Starfelt slander after the big man’s colossal performance yesterday. The agenda against him is absolutely incredible.”

TIF Thoughts on Ryan McGinlay’s comments…

Starfelt was introduced at Celtic Park in the summer by Ange Postecoglou and has been immense since – this season in the SPFL, he has an average passing accuracy of 91%, has helped his side keep 15 clean sheets in 28 games and makes an average of 3.5 clearances per game, as per SofaScore.

After last season’s failure to secure a 10th title in a row, Postecoglou arrived at Celtic and signed several players in hope that they could bounce back this season and win the league. Starfelt has been one of Celtic’s key players this season and has been a major factor in the Hoops’ defensive solidity.
