Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Celtic will be keen to tie Tom Rogic down to a new deal at Parkhead due to him offering something extra to the squad.

Rogic signed for Celtic from Central Coast in 2013, but his current contract is set to expire at the end of next season. Rogic has been a mainstay in the Hoops side this campaign, making 45 appearances in all competitions, whilst contributing six goals and 10 assists, according to Transfermarkt.

Rogic is one of the club’s longest-serving players, so Ange Postecoglou may not only be keen to keep him at the club for his services on the pitch, but for his importance off it as well.

With Rogic’s consistent involvement in the squad this season, O’Rourke told GiveMeSport he believes that Postecoglou will be keen to tie him down to a new long-term deal at the club.

He said: “I think Celtic will be desperate to try to sit down and sort out his long-term future.

“They’ll want to keep him there because I think he’s got that little something extra that Celtic had been missing over the last 12 months.

“He’s been a big factor in their success and trying to win the title this year. If Postecoglou has got anything to do with it, he’ll be pushing Celtic to ensure they keep hold of Tom Rogic.”

TIF Thoughts on Pete O’Rourke’s comments…

Rogic has been impressive this season in terms of individual stats, as in the Scottish Premiership for Celtic, he has the third-most goal contributions in the squad (12), has created the fourth-most big chances (9) and has the fourth-most assists at the club (6), as per SofaScore.

There will be very little doubt that Postecoglou will be keen to secure the services of Rogic beyond next season, especially with his longevity at the club and the fact he is still producing the performances for the Hoops.
