Celtic took another step towards the league title after an emphatic victory over a hapless St Johnstone at Celtic Park.

Ange Postecoglou’s men ran rampant, knocking seven past their visitors with no reply. Reo Hatate opened the scoring before Giorgos Giakoumakis doubled the lead. Daizen Maeda and Josip Juranovic then found the back of the net before a quickfire Matt O’Riley brace made it 6-0 before Liel Abada completed the scoring for the day.

It was like men against boys at Celtic Park as the Hoops dished out an embarrassing drubbing to their opponents.

Juranovic, who converted a penalty, was lauded in the player ratings on The Celtic Way as sports writer Tony Haggerty handed the full-back an 8/10 rating, with the following justification: “The Croatian full-back’s distribution can be erratic at times but what an engine he possesses. He loves to gallop forward and he gets up and down the right-hand side at will. He dispatched the penalty with ease to make it 4-0 on the day.”

Juranovic also registered an assist in the clash to help him finish second to O’Riley in SofaScore’s player ratings. He completed 93 passes from 103 attempts and also had 120 touches of the ball, so he was clearly vital to the Hoops and their domination.
