Image for Celtic: Fans should be buzzing as photo of Tom Rogic emerges

Celtic in for something of a major boost for this weekend’s Old Firm clash following an image that has emerged of Tom Rogic.

Celtic’s next game is an incredibly important one, although all Old Firm games are important in their own way, but with the Scottish Premiership title race as close as it is, with Ange Postecoglou’s men holding a three-point lead, this game could ultimately go a long way to deciding who will be crowned champions come the end of the season.

And it looks as if the Celtic boss could be in for a bit of good news based on a picture that has emerged on social media.

Posting on his Instagram, Celtic defender Christopher Jullien posted a picture of himself and a couple of his teammates during training, and one of those teammates just happened to be the Australian international Rogic.

Ange has since confirmed that Rogic is in the squad to face Rangers.

What’s the background on Rogic?

Rogic was forced to withdraw from international duty as a result of an injury that he picked up at the weekend during Celtic’s 4-0 victory.

The 29-year-old was on the receiving end of a reckless challenge by Ross County’s Kayne Ramsay which took him out of consideration for the Socceroos and put his place in the team for this weekend’s game into some doubt.

However, the fact that he is training and smiling will come as a big boost for the Hoops, with Ange now confirming he’s back to make things even better.

Why is this so important?

Rogic has been a very influential player for Celtic this season, on top of the five goals that he has in the league, he also currently has 6 assists, joint-third in the side, is averaging 1.6 key passes per game which is joint-sixth in the side and is completing an impressive 81.2% of his passes in the league (via WhoScored).

And given how important the game is for them, controlling the play and being on the front foot will be important for Celtic in order to pick up a result and so the threat of being without Rogic in the side could have been as a massive blow to their chances of picking up three crucial points.

TIF Verdict…

Is Rogic Celtic's most important midfielder?

Yes

No

No

Of course, Rogic may not start at the weekend, but the fact that he’s even in the squad is a rather big relief regardless of whether he plays  at all.

But if the injury wasn’t that bad, then this must be seen as a huge boost to Postecoglou, not just for the game this weekend but also for the rest of the season, because his impact could be huge for the run in as well.
