Rangers could be a potential landing spot for Ross Stewart in the summer transfer window with a lot of clubs interested.

This is according to the football journalist Pete O’Rourke, who has been speaking to This Is Futbol on the future of the Sunderland striker.

Would you like Rangers to sign Stewart?

The 25-year-old has been in fine form this season for the League One outfit with 22 goals and five assists in his 43 appearances in the English third tier (via Transfermarkt).

And it is apparent his displays have caught the attention of Steve Clarke who called Stewart up to the latest Scotland squad just a matter of weeks ago.

It seems his form this season has also turned heads at Ibrox, with O’Rourke feeling the title-chasers could make a move in the summer for Stewart.

He said: “He might not be the biggest name in the world, but his goalscoring record has been very good for Sunderland this season, has just been recently called into the Scotland squad as well. So he’s going the right way, Ross Stewart.

“He’s obviously attracting admiring glances, not just from Rangers, but from other clubs. I think Championship clubs in England are looking at him as well.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

We would be interested to see whether Stewart would be able to convert what has been an impressive season in League One into goals in the Scottish Premiership.

Stewart has previous playing in the Premiership from his days with Ross County but was only able to score a maximum of seven league goals in one season (via Transfermarkt).

With the future of Alfredo Morelos under serious questioning, could Stewart be a potential replacement at Ibrox if the Colombian is to depart in the coming months?
