Journalist Kieran Devlin has hailed Tom Rogic as one of the Celtic Greats because of the impact he’s had this season.

Rogic was signed as a young Australian back in 2013 for just £400,000 and that looks to be one of the best deals in modern-day history for Celtic, with the midfielder going on to rack up 265 appearances and pick up 16 pieces of silverware in the process.

Could Rogic become a Celtic legend?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

As Devlin has detailed in a piece he wrote for The Athletic, there have been expectations that Rogic could leave the club in recent years, however, after a crucial goal in the latest Old Firm derby and what he did during their December fixtures – scoring or assisting the winning goal in five of Celtic’s games – proves how important he is to the club.

Devlin heaped a load of praise on Rogic after his latest stunning display, taking to Twitter to say: “His contributions during the 9-in-a-row era already made him a great Celtic player, but I’d argue what he’s done this season – including scoring or assisting the winning goal in five games of Celtic’s injury-hit December – elevate him into a Celtic Great.”

Interesting first question, how many Celtic fans were inside Ibrox?

He then also claimed in the piece that Celtic would owe Rogic a ‘significant debt’ for all that he’s done for them, which is some statement.

TIF Thoughts on Rogic…

Despite having only started 18 games this season, Rogic ranks inside the top four within the Celtic squad for goal contributions in the SPFL, which is quite something, as everyone else in that group has started significantly more games in the league.

If Celtic go on to win the league title now, which looks increasingly likely given their lead at the top over Rangers, Rogic may well bow out on a high having won a staggering seven league titles, and no fans would likely begrudge him given what a top servant he’s been to the club during their era of dominance in Scotland.
