Celtic podcaster Ryan Fitzsimons has said he would take Brendan Rodgers back at Celtic Park “in a heartbeat”.

Rodgers spent three years at Parkhead between 2016 and 2019, leading the Bhoys to two domestical trebles. However, he departed halfway through his third campaign at the club to join Leicester City, and the manner of his departure did not go down well with the club’s supporters.

Interesting first question, how many Celtic fans were inside Ibrox?

Writing on Twitter, however, Fitzsimons claimed he would happily see the Northern Irishman return, once Ange Postecoglou has gone. He said, “Forgive Brendan Rodgers, understand why he did it. Take him back in a heartbeat.”

TIF Thoughts on Rodgers

Indeed, Rodgers made the controversial decision to leave halfway through a campaign in which Celtic were looking for a third consecutive trio of domestic trophies. Still, he has since done well with the Foxes, leading the side to their first-ever F.A Cup trophy and, this season, a European semi-final.

He has the pedigree and the track record and, although some supporters may never forgive him, it is understandable why he decided to make the move to the King Power Stadium. After all, he had won everything possible to him north of the border, and Leicester provided, at that point, a bigger challenge. Whether Rodgers would be willing to go back to Celtic, however, is another question.
