Express & Star Wolves Podcast contributor Liam Keen believes winger Pedro Neto looks off the pace.

Neto came off the bench against Burnley last weekend, in a game the Old Gold lost 1-0. A knee injury has kept the Portugal international out for much of the season, and he has only managed eight appearances in the Premier League, failing to score a single goal or provide an assist.

Do you remember who Wolves signed Ivan Cavaleiro from?

Talking on the podcast’s latest episode, Keen expressed his worry about the 22-year-old’s recent form. He said (19.51), “You mentioned, play Neto. I think he looks totally off the boil.

“He looks off the pace. He doesn’t look fit and doesn’t look ready. I didn’t think he made much of an impact at all really, when he came on.”

TIF Thoughts on Neto

Since making the move from Lazio to Molineux, Neto has shown signs of promise. He has managed ten goals and 11 for Wolves in 87 matches, and has come in for plenty of praise – former England and Newcastle striker Alan Shearer even called him a “huge talent” last year.

Unfortunately, there is no doubt the injury has stunted his development, and the £31.5m-valued ace’s re-introduction to the side has not been easy. It has also coincided with Wolves’ downturn in form – they have lost six of their ten games in the Premier League and, while eighth spot in the division looks all but secure, they have dropped out of the battle for Europa League qualification.

Neto should use the rest of the campaign as a way to work back to full fitness. With a full pre-season behind him, he has a chance to retrieve his top level next season, and show everyone why he is so highly rated.
