Express & Star Wolves contributor Liam Keen says Old Gold target Goncalo Guedes has “something about him”.

Since agent Jorge Mendes established a connection with the Midlands outfit, a glut of Portuguese players have made the move to Molineux, including Joao Moutinho, Ruben Neves and Pedro Neto. Guedes has been mentioned as another player from the Iberian peninsula who could switch to Wolves, with the winger himself saying he will sit down at the end of the season to discuss his options.

Do you remember who Wolves signed Ivan Cavaleiro from?

Speaking on the latest episode of the podcast, Keen talked about the 25-year-old. He said, “It’s no surprise when you look at his age, 25. He’s a forward who can play centrally or out wide, he’s Portuguese, he’s a Mendes client. All of that, you know, it’s a profile of a player that Wolves would at least be interested in. So it doesn’t come as a surprise.

“But, you know, he’s got 13 goals this season across all competitions, he’s got something about him. So you wouldn’t surprise me if that’s a player we’re interested in.”

TIF Thoughts on Guedes

Wolves and Portuguese players now seem to go hand in hand. Since the start of the 2016/17 season, they have signed 16 players from the country, with many being clients of Mendes. It is a policy that has worked wonders – Wolves were a club struggling at the bottom of the Championship table and are now a top-ten Premier League side.

Regardless of his nationality, £36m-valued Guedes is a player Bruno Lage and Co should be looking at. He has 13 goals and six assists in all competitions this term and has a strong pedigree, having been on the books of Benfica and Paris Saint-Germain. At 25, he has probably not yet hit his peak either. It remains to be seen where he ends up, but Wolves should be doing all they can to capture his services.
