Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Hugo Ekitike will be on the radar of Wolverhampton Wanderers ahead of the summer transfer window.

Ekitike has been linked with a move to Wolves in the summer after impressing this season for Stade Reims. The 19-year-old has scored an impressive nine goals in 21 Ligue 1 games, and just 14 of those appearances have been starts.

Wolves have struggled in front of goal this season, they have scored just 33 goals in the Premier League, and only four sides have scored less than this.

Amid their goalscoring troubles, O’Rourke has claimed to GiveMeSport that Ekitike is ‘definitely’ on Bruno Lage’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window.

He said: “Wolves have made a new forward a top priority this summer, so Ekitike is definitely somebody on their radar.

“It could be an interesting fight to see who does manage to lure Ekitike away from Reims this summer. It does seem that Wolves are right in there right now.”

TIF Thoughts on Pete O’Rourke’s comments…

Ekitike has been superb for Stade Reims this season, in Ligue 1 he is the club’s top scorer at a rate of one goal every 128 minutes, and for a 19-year-old, that is a remarkable stat. He has also been noted for his ‘unimaginable‘ rise to prominence following previous links to Newcastle United earlier in the year.

There is no doubt that due to his age and impressive stats, he will be on the radar of many top sides across Europe, and he could be a great option for Wolves as they look to push on a become perennial European challengers in the Premier League.

Raul Jimenez has not been the same since his horrific injury, scoring just six goals in 29 league games this season, so it does seem likely that Lage will look to bring in a new frontman in the summer.
