Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on the Que Golazo YouTube channel about David Moyes’ comments regarding what he reported about Declan Rice’s future at West Ham United.

Moyes did not take it very well when a journalist informed him that it was Fabrizio Romano who broke the story that Rice had rejected a third contract offer from West Ham, with the manager poking fun at the Italian, jokingly labelling him ‘one of the local boys’.

Should West Ham sell Rice this summer?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Rice has now reportedly turned down three contract offers from West Ham, although they are still in a reasonable position when it comes to dictating the midfielder’s future, with a current deal until 2024 and an option to extend it for a further year, although that hasn’t stopped both of the Manchester clubs from holding an interest in the midfielder.

Romano has now responded to Moyes’ comments and Rice’s future at West Ham.

He said: “Let me say that we need to respect West Ham and we’re respecting them, and the reality is that West Ham want to keep the player this summer. So I think there are huge chances for West Ham to keep Declan Rice this summer, just to be clear.”

TIF Thoughts on Rice’s future…

How well do you know where West Ham's signings came from? Take our quiz to find out! First up, where did Fabian Balbuena come in from?

Rice is one of the leading midfielders in the Premier League and that is very clearly backed up through many statistics such as progressing the ball forward, carries into the final third, interceptions and tackles won (as per FBRef).

The main reason why Rice could still remain at West Ham for the short term is that the Hammers could well find themselves in the Champions League next season if they manage to win the Europa League, which is likely what he’d be leaving the Hammers for – to play in one of the best competitions in club football. Therefore, we can see why this transfer saga could still go either way – surely to the relief of the Hammers fanbase.
