ExWHUemployee has claimed West Ham United have an interest in signing Conor Gallagher in the summer transfer window.

This season, the young midfielder has caught the eye while on loan with Crystal Palace and did enough to even be called ‘outstanding’ by the BBC’s Phil McNulty after making his England debut (via NetSport).

Gallagher is, of course, a Chelsea player still, and due to the current troubles the club are having – with sanctions being imposed on Roman Abramovich – it remains unclear as to how the Blues will be able to operate in the summer market.

With that in mind, clubs may come swooping in for the exciting loanee, and it seems as though David Moyes may aim to spearhead a West Ham bid.

Do West Ham have a chance of signing Conor Gallagher this summer?

No

Indeed, while speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, Ex stated that Gallagher is one of a few youngsters the Irons boss is keeping an eye on.

He explained: “He likes Gallagher that’s on loan at Palace, although I suspect a number of teams would like him as well.

“It’s an interesting situation with Chelsea, because obviously no one again really knows what their situation is going to be.

“If their situation remains as it is now, then for once, we might be able to go and raid them – like they used to do to us – and take some of their promising youngsters.

“But if they get a new takeover bid come in, then obviously that will change the state of play.

“But there’s a number of youngsters there that Moyes has identified as having a lot of potential. So it’ll be interesting to monitor the situation with Chelsea as the weeks go by.”

TIF Thoughts on Conor Gallagher and West Ham…

For the Eagles this season, Gallagher has claimed an impressive eight goals and five assists across all competitions. Considering he was also a regular in the West Bromwich Albion team last season, it could be a good sign for Moyes that the 22-year-old has already gained plenty of Premier League experience.

One issue for the Hammers, though, could be that plenty of other clubs may have their eye on him, too. Indeed, Ex mentions that a number of sides will probably want him in the summer, while Juventus and Inter supposedly watched him play recently.

On top of that, Chelsea could want to keep the player, while Crystal Palace will probably feel the same way and hope to land him permanently.

Taking it all into account, if West Ham are to pursue him in the summer, it might be a rather difficult deal to achieve with so many rivals to fight off.
