Tottenham Hotspur are showing an interest in the possibility of signing Youri Tielemans in the upcoming summer transfer window.

This is according to Fabrizio Romano, who was speaking about the Belgian’s future at Leicester City on the latest edition of his Here We Go podcast.

And the Italian football journalist believes the midfielder will definitely leave the King Power Stadium this summer with just one year remaining on his current deal.

Reports suggest Antonio Conte is looking to bring in another central midfielder in the summer window, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Leandro Paredes believed to be an option.

But Romano believes the experienced Premier League ace, rated at £49.5m (as per Transfermarkt), is on the radar of Fabio Paratici as he nears the conclusion of his fourth season with the Foxes.

Romano said: “Tielemans is going to leave Leicester at the end of the season, 100%. Many clubs interested, Tottenham included, but still nothing close. So Tottenham are not negotiating with Leicester at the moment or negotiating with Tielemans.

“They are exploring the situation, but for them, it’s really important to know if they will play Champions League football or not. So this is why for Tielemans it will take a few weeks before we will have updates – important updates.

“But it’s true that he’s a player on Tottenham’s radar. But there are, trust me, like five, six clubs in competition for Youri Tielemans.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

Interestingly, Tielemans has been called ‘one of Europe’s best midfielders’ by Brendan Rodgers.

Tielemans is certainly proving to be a man in demand ahead of the summer, with both Arsenal and Manchester United reportedly showing an interest in the midfielder.

With these two sides currently battling away with Tottenham over the final spot in the race for Champions League football, could the end to the season have a big say on where Tielemans’ future lies?

Given the future of Harry Winks has been questioned in recent months, Tielemans would certainly be an upgrade on the quality of midfielders at Spurs, having scored more goals this season than the club’s current midfielders combined.
