Journalist Paul Brown believes Oliver Skipp will have impressed Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte this season.

Skipp featured relatively regularly before his injury, which has seen him sidelined since the end of January. He featured 18 times in the Premier League in the first half of the season, with 14 of those appearances coming from the start.

With Skipp having to watch from the stands for three months, Conte has said that the English midfielder will return to action ‘very soon’, which will be a huge boost for the Italian coach.

Despite the lengthy spell on the sidelines for Skipp, Brown highlighted to GiveMeSport how impressed Conte will have been with the 21-year-old this season.

He said: “I think Conte has been quite pleasantly surprised by Skipp, who has done a really good job for him. Him and Hojbjerg seem to be the muscle in that midfield, whether they play together or not.”

TIF Thoughts on Brown’s comments…

Skipp is currently valued at £18m and has been impressive in terms of his stats this campaign. In the Premier League, he has an average passing accuracy of 90%, he wins over 50% of his duels and gives the ball away on average just 6.4 times per game, as per SofaScore.

Last campaign, Skipp was a crucial part of the Norwich City side that gained promotion to the Premier League, starting 45 games for the Canaries in the Championship, which has earned him a more regular role in the Spurs first team this term.

It has been a huge blow for Conte to miss Skipp over these last three months and his return to action should give the side a boost as we head into the dying embers of the season.
