Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has spoken to Mauricio Pochettino, but it is not to the extent of some recent reports.
This is what the reliable journalist Alasdair Gold, has claimed in the latest edition of the Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast this week.
Would you want Pochettino back if Conte leaves?
The former Spurs manager has been linked with a potential return to North London this summer with his future with Paris Saint-Germain under serious scrutiny.
Reports have claimed the Spurs chairman has held talks with Pochettino over a potential return with the conversations continuing ‘incessantly’ over recent months.
And despite reports from France claiming Antonio Conte is open to swapping N17 for the Parc des Princes, Gold believes Levy has not been as deep in conversations with Pochettino as reports suggest:
“Some of the French reports were saying that Daniel Levy has been constantly calling Poch, come home, come home kind of thing.
“Having spoken to people around Poch, I don’t think there’s any truth in that. I think the most that Poch and Daniel Levy have kind of shared over the last year or so has been the pleasant text. And that’s about it. And then there’s not many of those.”
TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…
There are dividing opinions on the Spurs chairman, however, we find it hard to believe Levy would be willing to allow Conte to leave without a fight.
Spurs have seen some major improvements under Conte already and with a full summer under his belt, it could put Spurs in a great spot for the new season.
However, if Conte was to leave in the summer, then Pochettino would appear as the natural replacement if he is to depart the Ligue 1 side as expected.
