Antonio Conte has made his frustrations clear at Tottenham Hotspur over the lack of options he has to choose from off the bench.

Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold has been speaking about the Italian’s concerns on the latest episode of the Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast.

Should Bergwijn be getting more minutes?

Conte’s substitutions were put under scrutiny at the weekend as the Lilywhites drew in their away trip to Brentford as they lost ground in the race for the top four.

With Spurs chasing the points, the Italian’s first change was to bring centre-back Davinson Sanchez on, followed by Lucas Moura late in the game.

And Gold believes the 52-year-old has already made his frustrations apparent to the likes of Daniel Levy ahead of the summer transfer window.

Gold said: “He’s not happy with that bench, we know that. I know that that’s been mentioned as a real issue for him, that the bench is not strong enough to rotate within games – and also, I think, rotate from midweek matches to keep players at a similar level.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

There is definitely work to be done in the summer to address the Spurs bench, with a severe lack of impact currently at Conte’s disposal.

Moura, in particular, has failed to show signs of why he should not be sold this summer, with just two goals in the Premier League this season.

However, one of the few options from the bench, Steven Bergwijn, did not come on against Thomas Frank’s side at the weekend.

And Bergwijn is one of the few players at Conte’s disposal from the bench who has shown some form recently, with goals from the bench and for his national team.
