Fabrizio Romano has claimed Antonio Conte has not held any talks with other clubs amid reports over his Tottenham Hotspur future.

The Italian journalist has been speaking on his latest Here We Go podcast, with the 52-year old’s future one of the main topics of discussion.

Do you think Conte will leave Spurs this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Reports surfaced earlier this week suggesting the Spurs manager has an eye on the possibility of a vacancy at Paris Saint-Germain this summer and would be open to the move.

However, Romano believes these reports have not come from Conte’s camp, with the Italian focused on securing a spot in the top four.

And the transfer expert has claimed that achieving Champions League football would be viewed by Conte in a similar light to winning a title.

He said: “First point I want to clarify on this Antonio Conte story is that all the rumours that we’re reading around England, France and wherever are not from Antonio. This is important to say, I think, for Tottenham fans too, that it’s not Antonio Conte or people close to him spreading stories of Conte set to join Paris Saint-Germain.

“He’s convinced that getting the Champions League spot with Tottenham would be like winning a title.

“So that’s why for Antonio now, the focus is on the pitch, these really complicated final games with Tottenham, and then, as he always said, at the end of the season, he will discuss with the club, he will discuss with Daniel Levy with Fabio Paratici.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

This may come to the encouragement of some Spurs fans, with the rumours picking up traction earlier this week suggesting he could be off in the summer.

Overall, Spurs have shown a lot of improvement under Conte, with the Lilywhites a long distance off the Champions League spots when he took over in November.

There are reports of the Italian demanding big changes in the summer transfer window and we do think this could have a big say on whether he is to remain in N17.

A lot could also be decided on where Spurs finish in the Premier League table and it will likely be a boost to the fans to hear despite the reports that Conte is focused on the task at hand.
