Journalist Pete O’Rourke has called for Tottenham Hotspur to look at Andrea Belotti in the summer transfer window as he will be a free agent.

Belotti has featured sparingly for Torino this season, making just 11 starts in Serie A, with five more appearances coming from the bench. In those 16 games, he has scored five goals and chipped in with one assist.

The Italian’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, meaning that he will be a free agent in the summer ahead of next season. The forward is currently valued at £25.2m as per Transfermarkt, so could be a great deal if a club can pick him up for free.

Considering Spurs are seemingly light in the striker role with great reliance on Harry Kane, O’Rourke spoke to GiveMeSport and highlighted that Belotti should be a player that Spurs will want to look at, especially on a free transfer.

He said: “Belotti is a good player who has been a regular for the Italian national team. He is a Euro winner as well. He is a free agent, so that’s a deal Spurs should be looking at, really, right now.”

TIF Thoughts on Pete O’Rourke’s comments…

Belotti has struggled with injury this season at Torino, but still has commendable stats for his side in Serie A, as he has a goal every 201 minutes, has an average of 2.5 shots per game, and has an average successful dribble rate of 64%, as per SofaScore.

Belotti also won Euro 2020 with Italy last summer, so he will add the experience of winning trophies to Antonio Conte’s side, something that is lacking with the current crop of players.

At times, Spurs have been reliant on Kane and when he has seemingly needed a rest, they can not afford to give him a break. This showed at the start of the season when he was in poor form after scoring just five times in 21 Premier League games, so by bringing in Belotti, he could be used as a much-needed backup for England’s skipper.
