Alasdair Gold has sent a stark warning to Tottenham Hotspur’s Daniel Levy ahead of an important summer.

In fairness to the Tottenham Hotspur chairman, Levy did well last summer to ensure that Spurs either got the fee they wanted for star striker Harry Kane or that the England captain didn’t leave the cub – and the latter ended up being the scenario that played out.

Will Kane sign a new contract?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Now, the club that wanted to sign Kane, Manchester City, are reportedly edging closer to agreeing a deal to sign Erling Haaland, which could see them totally abandon the idea of signing Kane when the summer transfer window opens.

However, journalist Gold, when sharing an article for football.london, tweeted a warning to Levy, saying: “Daniel Levy cannot simply rely on Man City’s expected Erling Haaland transfer to close the exit door.”

It may not be about what Levy does this summer that forces Kane to make a decision on his future, but what happens on the pitch in these last few weeks of the season, as finishing in the top four and keeping Antonio Conte could be a dealbreaker for the striker.

Some reports have suggested that Kane is in talks to sign a new deal with Spurs, making a dramatic U-turn on his clear desire to leave the club nearly 12 months ago, however, after the way he’s performed recently under Conte, it would only make sense to ensure one of the best strikers in world football gets tied down for the majority of his career at Spurs.

Contract negotiations are something that Levy can focus on this summer and getting an acceptable one on the table for Kane to sign would surely go a long way to pleasing Conte and the fans.
