Sky Sports contributor Ben Dinnery believes Southampton’s Tino Livramento could have injured his anterior cruciate ligament against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The £22.5m-valued 19-year-old started on the right side of the back four at the Amex Stadium on Sunday, but unfortunately only lasted 37 minutes before being replaced by Romain Perraud. He appeared to be struggling with a knee issue, and Dinnery has now provided an insight into the problem.

In what position did Southampton finish in these seasons? Starting off with 2020/21

Speaking on the latest episode of FPL Injuries, Dinnery said: “There certainly looks as if there could be ACL involvement. If that proves to be the case and there is a rupture, then you can more or less write off the remainder of 2022, we’re talking around 7-9 months – possibly even longer.”

TIF Thoughts on Livramento…

This could be a crushing blow for the teenager. He has enjoyed a breakout campaign since switching to the Saints from Chelsea for £5m, making 32 appearances in all competitions, scoring once and providing two assists. He has been one of Ralph Hasenhuttl’s key players, and with Premier League safety all but secure, such an injury would see him spend a considerable amount of time on the sidelines.

Do you think Livramento will play again this season?

We do not yet have any confirmation as to exactly what the problem is, so it is not yet worth thinking about the long-term future. Hopefully, the problem is less serious than first thought, and the England U21 international is back in the thick of the action as soon as possible.
