Chris Waugh has dropped a double injury boost for Newcastle United while speaking on the latest episode of Pod on the Tyne.

Despite making several changes on Saturday, Eddie Howe will have been left impressed that his Newcastle United side managed to pick up all three points while also registering their biggest victory of the Premier League campaign.

Can Newcastle beat Liverpool on Saturday?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The Magpies were playing their third match in just six days so changes were likely to be expected from Howe, especially with his side now all but safe from relegation, and this means that some of his star assets will be fit and ready to go in what will be a tough encounter against Liverpool on Saturday.

Waugh has dropped some early positive team news concerning two regulars under Howe in the form of Joelinton and Fabian Schar.

(52:20) “Obviously, Schar’s had a long-term groin problem and so has Joelinton who was taken off relatively early again, they should be manageable and through to next week.”

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

Schar picked up an injury while away on international duty back in April but has only missed the one game for Newcastle since then which was the Norwich victory when he was rested more than dropping out due to a knock, so the full week’s rest will have done his body the world of good.

When it comes to Joelinton though, he appears to show no sign of slowing down having played the second-most minutes out of any Newcastle player this season and is simply a player reborn under Eddie Howe, however, he has missed two games under the current boss due to an injury earlier in the season, so he will have to be managed carefully, as he was on Saturday getting taken off after 67 minutes.
