How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

A run of just three defeats in 14 Premier League outings has steered Newcastle away from the relegation zone, and with a 10-point lead over 18th place with seven games left, survival is all but secure. As such, the club’s supporters should be able to relax for the rest of the campaign, and the Liverpool game should be one to enjoy for the St James’ Park faithful.

Clearly, though, getting tickets for the clash has been difficult. On Twitter, Hurst made his thoughts known about the ticketing website, writing: “Complete disaster again on the #nufc ticket site for the LFC fixture. Huge waste of people’s time spending hours over two separate sale dates for tickets and the system collapsing again.”

TIF Thoughts on ticketing systems…

Obtaining tickets for matches should be a stress-free affair, but that is rarely the case. We have all spent time on ticketing websites, waiting in virtual queues that never seem to get shorter. Internal errors are also a regular bane of the average football supporter.

Is Premier League survival new secure?

Fortunately, as Hurst later stated, the issue was eventually sorted, though he did call for improvements ahead of next season.

Given the arrival of wealthy investors and the promise of good times returning to the north-east, demand for tickets will only increase in the coming months. It is a problem the club will need to work on if they want to keep the fans onside, especially when it should be a relatively easy issue to fix.
