Journalist Keith Downie has claimed that he can’t see England skipper Harry Kane joining Newcastle United in the summer.

Kane was linked with a move away from Spurs in the summer in a search to win trophies, but a deal with Manchester City failed to go through. There have been recent reports that a move for Kane could still be on the cards this summer, but this time to the red side of Manchester.

With the newfound wealth at Newcastle, they have been linked to several world-class players, but with the Magpies not having European football next season, it may be hard to see any of the ‘big stars’ join. Nevertheless, they are thought to be eyeing the likes of Kane.

After the Magpies have been linked with these world-class players, Keith Downie spoke to GiveMeSport and highlighted the likelihood of Kane moving to St James’ Park in the summer.

He said: “Absolute non-starter, I can’t see how it can happen, I just can’t see it. Harry Kane has made it clear that he wants to win trophies and Newcastle are not going to be next season in a place to win trophies.”

TIF Thoughts on Keith Downie’s comments…

So, it now looks as if Keith Downie has crushed PIF’s dreams of signing the striker, as he has been reported to be a ‘dream’ signing of theirs recently.

Kane struggled in the first half of the season after a failed move to Manchester City appeared to affect his form, as he scored just five goals in his opening 21 Premier League games. Since then, he has turned things around, scoring five goals and registering six assists in his previous seven league games, as per SofaScore.

The England skipper is yet to win a trophy in his Spurs career and he will be 29 years old in the summer, so he may be thinking that if he wants to win some silverware before his career is up, he may have to part ways with Spurs.

Although Newcastle may be a club that will be challenging for trophies in the future, it is perhaps unlikely that they will be competing next season just two transfer windows into the new ownership’s tenure, so Kane may look elsewhere in the summer if he wants to leave Spurs.
