Newcastle United will have their transfer list already drawn out ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

This is according to the reliable Toon correspondent, Liam Kennedy, who was speaking on a video posted to Newcastle World’s Twitter account.

Are you expecting a big summer of transfers?

Yes

No

Kennedy was discussing the club’s transfer plans for the summer window moments after the Magpies secured another three points at St. James’ Park against Crystal Palace.

The victory on Tyneside has all but confirmed their spot in the top flight for next season with a 12-point gap maintained over Burnley in 18th.

And with their spot in next season’s Premier League, Kennedy feels attention will be turned to next season to a certain extent with their transfer list likely already formed:

“They didn’t win any of the first 14 games this season. And they’re going to stay up at a canter. It just makes you wonder with further improvements in the summer, how far this team can go and this squad?

“I’ve got no doubt that transfer lists have already been drawn up and improvements have already been made. Eddie Howe’s not the type, he’ll never say they are, but he’s that studious. He’s not the type who’s going to be going into the summer on a whim, given that he’ll be driving a lot of the recruitment as well.”

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

TIF Thoughts on Kennedy’s comments…

This will be music to the ears of Newcastle fans on the back of what was another impressive result against a Crystal Palace side who have received a lot of praise this season.

Newcastle clearly operated the January transfer window well with their signings making big impacts on the team, Dan Burn, Matt Targett and Bruno Guimaraes, in particular.

So to know the club will be going into the market with their targets already laid out can only come to the encouragement of the fans ahead of the owners’ first summer window.
