Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Eddie Howe has had enough of Newcastle United midfielder Miguel Almiron.

Almiron has been out of favour this season, featuring 22 times in the Premier League for Newcastle, with nine of those appearances coming from the bench. He has played just over 100 Premier League games for the Magpies, scoring just eight goals.

The Paraguayan has reportedly been put up for sale by Newcastle, with an asking price of £15m for his services, despite the club signing him for £20m in January 2019.

With reports stating he has been put on the transfer list by Eddie Howe, Jones claimed to GiveMeSport that he simply isn’t going to fit into the plans of the manager moving forward.

He said: “Almiron is available for transfer. The simplest way to state it is that Howe doesn’t rate him and doesn’t think he can fit in with the way he’s heading.”

TIF Thoughts on Dean Jones’ comments…

Almiron has failed to succeed in England since signing for Newcastle. This season in the Premier League, he has zero goal contributions, has created just one big chance and averages just 0.2 shots on target per game, as per SofaScore.

In the four seasons he has been at St James’ Park, he has failed to score more than four goals in a single campaign, so there are no questions asked as to why Howe may want to ship him off in the summer.

The Magpies signed players with Champions League experience in January such as Kieran Trippier and Bruno Guimaraes, and Almiron just isn’t in the same category as these types of players. Therefore, Howe may have to improve in this area of the pitch if he wants the club to progress forward.
