Journalist Dean Jones has made a huge claim on Harry Kane amid a potential transfer to Newcastle United for England’s captain.

Kane was heavily linked with a move away from Spurs in the summer, but a move for the forward failed to go through with Manchester City, while more recently, he has been linked with a move to the red side of Manchester ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

The Spurs striker started the season in poor form with what seemed to be a hangover from the failed move, scoring just five goals in 21 Premier League games, but he has scored seven goals in his previous eight league games.

An easy one to start with, which player was booked after pushing Bentancur to the ground?

With the links of Kane moving away from Spurs, Jones spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that Newcastle are “genuinely interested” in signing him in the summer, alongside Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar.

He said: “They’re linked with Neymar and Harry Kane, and they’re genuinely interested in those players if they become available. That’s when that [£90m] budget just gets blown apart.”

TIF Thoughts on Dean Jones’ comments…

Interestingly, it was reported recently that Kane is one of the ‘dream signings’ that PIF are looking at for Newcastle ahead of the summer transfer window.

Kane has turned his season around for Spurs and has a current transfer market value of £90m, according to Transfermarkt. In the Premier League, the Spurs forward has 18 goal contributions in 29 games, he has created 16 big chances, and has an average of 3.4 shots per game, as per SofaScore.

Although Newcastle may have the financial advantage over their competitors, it could be hard to see Kane move to a club that doesn’t play in European competition. Kane is yet to win a trophy in his career, and even though Newcastle are a progressing side, it may still be several years before they are competing for silverware.

Spurs are currently on the hunt for Champions League football ahead of next season, and if do not achieve this, it looks more likely that the English striker will part ways with the club.
