Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has not left the club’s WhatsApp group recently, contrary to rumours over his future at Old Trafford.

This is according to Fabrizio Romano, who was speaking on his Here We Go podcast to discuss the future of the French midfielder amid the reports.

Will you be glad to see Pogba leave?

It was claimed earlier this week the 29-year-old has hinted at a potential summer departure from Old Trafford by leaving a WhatsApp group filled with his United teammates.

Pogba has just a matter of weeks remaining on his contract with the Red Devils, and the Premier League giants are facing the possibility of losing him on a free for the second time.

And with the Frenchman out for the remainder of the campaign as a result of the calf injury he picked up against Liverpool, Romano shed some light on the behind-the-scenes actions reported.

He said: “I was checking, this is not true. And this makes you understand how sometimes with Manchester United, it’s really easy to say things around, like they are the worst players in the world. And I’m not saying that they are the best, I’m just saying that sometimes there [is a lot of] fake news around Manchester United’s dressing room. I’m told that it’s not true Paul Pogba left the chat.

“But about the future of Paul Pogba? Yes, the expectation, as Ralf Rangnick mentioned in public, the expectation around the club is that Paul will not sign a new deal. At the moment, they are not even conversating.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

We are not sure whether this will have much of an impact on the United fans who may already see Pogba’s future elsewhere, with a number of clubs believed to be monitoring his situation.

And with Erik ten Hag set to come in over the summer, we do wonder whether off-field reports like the WhatsApp debacle will be viewed as a burden by the Dutchman.

Ralf Rangnick has already claimed there will be big changes needed to the squad over the summer, and we wonder whether central midfield will be one of the areas United go big on in the market.
