Sky Sports presenter Joe Thomlinson has claimed that Donny van de Beek will be the happiest person at Manchester United after the latest Erik ten Hag update.

So far this week, it has been widely reported that the Red Devils are closing in on finally announcing that the Ajax manager will be their new head coach next season.

Will Erik ten Hag save Donny van de Beek's MUFC career?

Yes

No

No

Indeed, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Ten Hag has already accepted ‘contract conditions’ with United – and his current side are aware of this, too.

With that in mind, Thomlinson took to Twitter to post a picture of Van de Beek – who worked with his potential new manager in the past – and claimed he will be the ‘happiest man in Manchester’ right now:

TIF Thoughts on Donny van de Beek and Man United…

Van de Beek made the move from Ajax to Manchester back in 2020 for a fee in the region of £35m, but it’s not been the happiest of times for him since then. Indeed, he has failed to settle nor impress his coaches, and has made just four Premier League starts for the Red Devils.

Struggling this term, he was loaned out to Everton in January, leaving his future in much doubt. However, with Ten Hag, he achieved great things at Ajax – including that iconic run to the Champions League semi-finals – and so this latest move could rekindle his career in England.

With that in mind, it’s clear to see why Thomlinson opted to dub the midfielder as the happiest man in Manchester. It will certainly be interesting to see how things play out if Ten Hag does get the job.
