New Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag could look to his former club Ajax for transfers in the summer with Dusan Tadic being a favourite, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Dutch manager is set to take over the reins from Ralf Rangnick in the summer and will have a lot of work to do in the summer transfer window, having to ahead a lot of the dead weight while bringing in younger and hunger players who can move the team into the new generation.

Life will not be made easier as it looks seemingly like the Manchester team will fail to qualify for the Champions League after losing three of their last five, including a 4-0 loss to Liverpool, 3-1 to Arsenal, and an embarrassing 1-0 loss to relegation battling side Everton.

With this in mind, it would not be surprising if ten Hag looked to his former team Ajax to bring in some talented players to make the transition easier for the 52-year-old manager. The Red Devils have already been linked with 22-year-old winger Antony who has played under ten Hag this season, however, one of the favourites is former Southampton forward Tadic, who has been on electric form for the Amsterdam based team since joining in 2018.

Journalist Jones suggested this to GiveMeSport, claiming it is a way for ten Hag to make his mark on the team and make an early “statement”.

He said, “I think that he will want to make a statement by bringing in at least one player that shows what his style is all about and what it takes to be in that first-team, so perhaps Tadic is the one that emerges in that sense.”

TIF Thoughts on Tadic to United…

There is no doubt that United have lacked a consistent goal-scoring threat up front aside from club legend Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese forward has racked up 22 goals at the age of 37 while next up is Bruno Fernandes with nine, then Mason Greenwood with six. They are in desperate need of help.

Tadic, who is valued at £11.7 million (as per Transfermarkt), could very well be the answer to their problems in the short term. The 33-year-old has been been involved with a staggering 180 goals in 190 games for the de Godenzonen, with 15 goals and 20 assists in all competitions this season. (Transfermarkt)

He has also averaged an impressive 1.9 shots, 4.1 key passes, 1.3 dribbles, and 2.9 crosses per game with 76.6 pass accuracy on 38.5 average passes per game (Whoscored). United are desperate for something with this level of creativity and his value of £11.7m, combined with his previous Premier League experience, will surely entice the Premier League giants even more.
