Phil Hay has been speaking about the kind of impact expanding Elland Road will have on Leeds United.
The Whites play their football at Elland Road, which is the 11th-largest ground in the Premier League with a 37,890 capacity. However, if they remain in the top flight for years to come, more and more fans will be waiting to take in some football.
Should Elland Road be expanded?

This has seen their owners and board look to take steps to expand the ground to 55,000, which would see them jump to sixth in terms of stadium capacities in the Premier League, ahead of the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle United.
Hay, who spoke about the stadium expansion on The Phil Hay Show, believes that a bigger Elland Road would have a massive impact on the club.
He said: “A bigger Elland Road would make a massive difference to Leeds, in part because at a stroke, they would be able to sell 10, 15,000 more season tickets overnight. The waiting list is there, people would take them up on that, it does change things commercially for you.”

Since Leeds were promoted back into the Premier League, the demand for season tickets have naturally increased, with the club now having introduced a waiting list, which is a big indicator that they would have no problem filling out a much bigger stadium.
If Leeds want to become a force in the Premier League – as they threatened to become last season with a ninth-place finish – they will arguably need a bigger stadium to help compete. Just look at Everton doing the same, by moving from an old and classic stadium to a larger, more modern ground as clubs look to keep up with the bigger sides.
