Phil Hay has revealed who he’s been told Leeds United could try and sign this summer.

Last summer’s transfer window was filled with a lot of frustration for Leeds, as they clearly wanted to bring in a new central midfielder. They tried to lure both Conor Gallagher and Lewis O’Brien to Elland Road, although their efforts ended up being fruitless.

Can Leeds cause an upset vs Man City?

Quite luckily for Leeds this season, long-term absentee Adam Forshaw has been able to stay relatively injury-free until now, and more importantly, he has got up to the speed of the Premier League quickly, racking up 26 appearances in his first season back from his lengthy lay-off.

However, without Kalvin Phillips, it hasn’t been a great season, which could mean Leeds target midfield options once more this summer. Speaking on The Phil Hay Show, Hay revealed which Premier League midfielder they are said to be interested in.

He said: “One player who was mentioned to me a few weeks back was James Garner at Manchester United, who’s on loan at Nottingham Forest. I don’t honestly know if Leeds will go for him, but he’s somebody who’s certainly been mentioned in those circles.”

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

It’s certainly been a breakout season of sorts for James Garner at Nottingham Forest, with the 21-year old currently having racked up 43 appearances for his loan side, playing a big part in their surge up the Championship and into the play-offs.

If Leeds are going to pursue Garner this summer, they may have to wait until deep into the transfer window, with the i reporting that Man United and Erik ten Hag are set to give Garner a chance to impress in pre-season to see if he’s ready to be part of the first team next campaign.
